The T.R.U.T.H. Initiative (Teach, Restore, Uncover, Triumph, Honor) fights systemic erasure of marginalized communities—Black, Indigenous, Asian American, Latino, women, LGBTQ+, and more—by reclaiming their stories, demanding recognition, and inspiring equity through education, art, and activism. At a time when our own DoD is working overtime to minimize or completely erase the contributions of those who sacrificed so much for our freedoms, now is the time to set the record straight lest we condemn tomorrow’s leaders to wander a desert of deliberate amnesia

The T.R.U.T.H. Initiative (Teach, Restore, Uncover, Triumph, Honor) was founded by Michael Gordon Bennett, a third-generation U.S. military veteran, after discovering his own family’s erased legacy of service. My grandfather stormed the beaches of Okinawa. My father served in Vietnam. I followed in their footsteps—and in the process, uncovered a distant relative’s story in the 320th Barrage Balloon Battalion, the only Black combat unit at Normandy. Their courage was buried by the very institution they fought for.
But this isn’t just about my family. It’s about all marginalized heroes—Black soldiers, Indigenous code talkers, women pilots and those in combat, Asian Americans, Latinos, LGBTQ+ veterans—whose sacrifices were erased by systemic racism, sexism, and discrimination. It’s about the recent firing of trailblazers like General CQ Brown and Admiral Linda Franchetti, who proved that exclusion still thrives in the military’s highest ranks. It's about the numerous states that have banned books or educational opportunities the exclude a segment of the population. It's about attempts to hide the military contributions of the Tuskegee Airmen, Jackie Robinson, Doris "Dorie" Miller and more.
I started T.R.U.T.H. because a visual story is impossible to ignore. Film and television don’t just entertain—they prove what bureaucracies try to hide. Barrage, our first project, revives the 320th’s story. But it’s only the beginning. A portion of every dollar raised for the film will fund the T.R.U.T.H. Initiative’s next chapter: documentaries, scholarships, and partnerships to ensure no hero is forgotten again.
Join me. Let’s make history harder to erase."
